NANCY LIEBERMAN, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP

“As soon as she hit the tree, Nancy Lieberman (Class of 1995) knew it was bad. “I heard my neck snap,” she said. She was skiing with her family in Colorado, and the accident left her quadriplegic, staring down life in a wheelchair.” Crain’s, Hilery Potkewitz.s

That was five years ago. A little more than a year after a terrible ski accident, Nancy Lieberman, one of Wall Street’s top lawyers, returned to work, called Rick Lobel at Datel and said “I cannot use my arms right now. Please help me get my emails out”. Fast forward several months – Nancy is not only using continuous speech recognition to do just that, but is using this technology to get out almost all of her dictations.

Rick Lobel at Datel said “Nancy needed to have Dragon Legal accessible from anywhere. Working with Skadden’s IT group, we implemented the application on a Jaws Server over Citrix with an integrated Speechware desktop boom microphone at the front end. Nancy was so happy with this solution that she wanted to write a book for attorneys on speech recognition!”
